THREE DOLLAR SQUIRREL! Writers on Writing Zine - OPEN CALL

Three Dollar Squirrel is a monthly zine (handmade magazine) with content by writers on the subject of writing.  Published by Word Whimsy, in connection with Dragonfly Press Publishing, Three Dollar Squirrel poses one question per month and offers participants the chance to tell the story of their own process. Participants get exposure and the opportunity to network with their readers. All participants receive a free PDF copy of the issue they are in and the option of buying a printed copy at a discounted rate. Each issue of the Three Dollar Squirrel will be offered in print format online for purchase. Each issue has a deadline of the 27th of each month with a release date of the 1st of the next month. (see below)

To participate: Please email your response along with your name and up to three links; links can be your personal site, your blog, social network (Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, MySpace, etc) and/or a site where your writing is. We prefer not to censor so please avoid using profanity. The word count is 60 - 800 words. The deadline for Issue No. 5 is October 27th, 2009. Do not post entries to the Word Whimsy list if you are a member. This is an open call, you do not have to be a member of Word Whimsy. Late submissions will not be accepted.

For Issue No.5, Diggory, our Three Dollar Squirrel asks:
"Your muse's timing isn't always perfect. What is the most unusual time or place that inspiration has hit you, what prompted it, and what did you do about it?"

AN·THOL·O·GY (working title)

January saw the start of our push to publish! An·thol·o·gy (working title) is a collection of writings by Word Whimsy members. We are not limiting it to just short stories though. Haiku, poetry, art, and photography will also be included to compliment our story selections. An·thol·o·gy is open to active Word Whimsy members who participate online and/or locally. All submissions are subject to review individually as well as for the overall flow of the project. We plan to look for an agent in the coming weeks, versus just self-publishing it, so our goal is for An·thol·o·gy to be a professionally published book. If you would like more information, feel free to drop us an email or join our email list and get involved.
