Word Whimsy is not a critique group. It is about putting hand to paper and keeping it there. It is about encouragement and making your writing a practice. It is about pushing past your fears and hesitations. Anyone can write, you just need to allow yourself to make mistakes and keep writing until you don't.
Word Whimsy online is currently a work in progress. We have recently made our monthly meetings open to the public and are now flushing out our website. Word Whimsy online will be a writer's resource intended to inspire creativity and help writers of all experience levels overcome obstacles in their creative process. Designed to be an online 'muse' of sorts, Word Whimsy will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and look at things from a new perspective.
As the name suggests, Word Whimsy is about enjoying the act and art of writing, getting it out on paper (which is the most important thing) and writing without stifling your creativity by taking it all too seriously! Word Whimsy holds monthly writer's meetings in the city of Ocala, Florida. For NaNoWriMo November, we are holding meetings EVERY week on Thursday nights (7pm) and EVERY Saturday (1pm) to help spur on NaNo participants as more than half our group is playing! Our meetings are open to anyone who wants to challenge and improve their creative writing skills. Short stories, poetry - epic to haiku, novellas to novels, any type of fiction. We are looking at outside activites like writing related field trips and writer's conventions for the future as well.

A lot of our members are doing NaNoWriMo this month, so for those in the area who are participating, we are holding meetings on both Thursdays and Saturdays in addition to the official NaNo meetings for the area. Keep your eyes here or join us on the list for further information.
Members of NaNoWriMo and Script Frenzy are more than welcome to join in on the discussions too. Though Word Whimsy is not endorsed by either group, we do support both and encourage participants to use the challenges on the forums and in the discussion group to encourage their writing and fuel their muses.
Children 10 and over are welcome as long as they are supervised and not disruptive. We are not responsible for your children, you are.
